Title: 3.2.2 Paladin changes
Post by: Vitandus on Fri, 2009-09-11 : 16:20
Paladin

    * Righteous Fury: The bonus threat from Holy spells caused by this talent has been reduced from 90% to 80%.
    * Seal of Corruption and Seal of Vengeance: These seals will now only use the debuff stacks generated by the attacking paladin to determine the damage done by the seal and by the judgement.

Protection

    * Blessing of Sanctuary: This blessing now grants 10% strength in addition to its current effects. Also, the strength and stamina bonuses from this blessing will no longer be lost when Blessing of Kings is removed.
    * Hammer of the Righteous: The damage from this ability is now considered physical instead of Holy. The threat generated by the ability has been increased such that it will continue to do approximately the same threat it did when it was Holy damage.
    * Judgements of the Just: The reduction in cooldown to Hammer of Justice provided by this talent has been reduced to 5/10 seconds instead of 10/20 seconds.
    * Touched by the Light: This talent now provides 20/40/60% of the paladin's strength as spell power instead of 10/20/30% of the paladin's stamina.

Retribution

    * Seal of Command: This ability now chains to strike up to 2 additional targets when it is triggered by an attack that can only strike a single target.

My thoughts:

Righteous Fury threat getting nerfed should not be a surprise. When OTs can not pull threat at all off of the MT, that's an issue.
SoC is excellent. No more sharing the 5 stack and getting screwed.
Blessing of Sanctuary is.... whoa. More Strength for more AP and Parry.
Unsure as to the change to HoR.
Judgements of the Just is a nice boost. Touched by the Light is to break the Protection Healer.

Seal of Command is not bad, but it's still not where it should be. Sorry, but if you have a talent, it should be worth the expenditure. The gimmicks I have to go through now are ridiculous to make it viable.

Does that still keep Corruption as the best seal to use on a single-boss? 10 expertise is no joke, and the gear you can swap or re-gem because you don't need 82 expertise is pretty significant.

Debatable between Corruption and Righteousness. Based on my numbers, Righteousness unless you do crazy seal swapping.

When I'm playing my pally, I'm using Seal of Righteousness for most trash encounters and short boss fights.  I am using the Libram you get from doing Arena's...you only need a 700 rating to get it...

When I switch to a boss, I will change to Seal of Corruption..I also change Librams as well...I'm using the new libram you buy with Badges of Triumph.  It seems to work fairly well.  I have my seal buttons macro'ed to change librams when I change seals.   This does slow down my rotation some if I have to target switch, but I'd rather match the libram/seal for the situation.

The changes to Seal of Command look nice....sort of.  The cleave will not trigger from Divine Storm however.  It will be the go to seal for Heroics...and Naxx encounters with lots of mobs.  For pvp you are going to want to use Seal of Righteousness.  If you spend the talents in holy and glyph it, the judgments hit so much harder.  Plus, the cleave portion of Command will break cc.
