Title: Thraice's App
Post by: Thraice on Sun, 2009-11-22 : 23:26
General Info

Character name(s), class(s), build(s), and level(s)
> Thraice – Hunter - Survival (0/15/56) or Marksman (7/57/7) - 80

Player name (We operate on a first name basis in HDL)
> James

Player age - [HDL] guild and Ventrilo chatter is for mature audiences only. If you are not 18+, you will need to be sponsored by a guild member in good standing.
> 27

Where did you hear about [HDL]?
> WOW Forums

Why do you want to join [HDL]?
> To have fun. You guys seem to be what I'm looking for. I've been PUGging raids since my transfer to ZJ Horde a month ago and it's painful. Not too heavy into PVP, but I'm definitely not against it. I smile killing people.

What is your guild membership history? Why did you leave or want to leave?
> This toon (different name) was in a BC raiding guild on the alliance side but it fell apart during the last couple of weeks before Wrath's release.

What do you want from a guild?
> The opportunity to raid, the backup when they spot me screwing up, and a cool environment.

Can you follow kill order?
> Yep.

Are you a Casual player, Raiding oriented player, or a PvP oriented player?  If you think you are a combination of any of those, what percentage of time would you spend on each?
> A mixture. If I had to lean one way or the other, it would be to Raiding.  Lately, it's been 15% or so on dailys, 30% raiding, 10% PVP and the rest casual heroic grinding. All this badge gear didn't just fall in my lap (sadly).

Raiding Questions

Will you dedicate 5 days a week to raiding?

> Nope.

If you answered ""Yes" to the question above, are you aware that [HDL] is not a hard core raiding guild?
> N/A

Will you dedicate 2 nights a week to raiding?
> Sure.

Are you willing to take/accept criticism to make you a better player?
> Absolutely; I've got no doubt there are a number of people who have beaten their heads into walls nailing down the best way to do something. Why bang my own head?

We do require Omen and Deadly Boss Mods. Do you have these installed?
> Omen's installed. DBM's not. I've been using Big Wigs since I started raiding and it really works well for me. I get the same messages as DBM, just a preference thing.

What is your primary and secondary talent build? Which do you prefer?
> Primary is Marksman and Secondary is Survival. Out of the two, I have more fun with Marksman but Survival is an obvious notable DPS boost, so... it's usually the one I run with now and days.

What is your rotation for your primary and secondary builds?
> Primary – Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, Serpent Sting, Chimera Shot, Steady Shot until AS or CS are up.
> Secondary – Explosive Shot, Black Arrow, Serpent Sting, Steady Shot, ES, SSx3, ES...

Explain your gear choices, including gems and enchants.
> My gear right now is the best I have been able to throw together with hundreds of badges and a couple different raid upgrades. The Conquest badge gear really just is better then the stuff I've been seeing in the raids I've been in... well, that I've won so far that is! As far as gems and enchants go, I've been stacking agility: it works well with Lightning Reflexes.

PVP Questions

You are headed to run an instance with non-guildies when you spot a flagged gnome. What is the proper course of action: 1) Ignore the gnome and head to the instance, 2) Send a message to the guild of your find. flag immediately, and kill the gnome, leaving the PUG to wait, or 3) neither. If you selected 3, what course of action would you take?
> Situational dependant. If they're an obvious easy kill, I'll take the 10 seconds to wipe the floor with them. Otherwise, I'll judge if the group can spare a few seconds. If they can, I'll kill it. If not, well, there's always tomorrow.

If you selected 3, what course of action would you take?
> Much of the same as above... 'less I'm running late and folks are waiting on me.

A tea bag is 1) a small porous bag containing tea leaves or powdered tea, onto which boiling water is poured in order to make a drink of tea, or 2) a verb.
> Yes.

Do you prefer Battlegrounds, Arenas, or World PVP? Why?
> World PVP. It's me against whomever and they aren't usually running around in their PVP Gear. Since I'm still working on mine, I have a better shot handling the situation well in this case.

What is your favorite battleground? Why?
> AV. With a good coordinated group, it's fun to push the bridge and wipe the opposition out.

Rank in important to stack for an Arena battle: Resilience, Attack Power/Spell Power, Critical Strike, Hit Rating.
> Seeing as how I've never done Arena, this is a mere guess but: Resilience, Hit Rating, Attack power, Critical Strike Rating

Social Questions

How would you rate yourself as a World of Warcraft player?
> Better than the average (ex. I don't stand in shit on the ground).

Does .Net suck?
> Yes.

Whiskey or whisky?
> There's an 'e' in but, you can spell it how you want if you're pouring me a glass.

Rank in importance to you: Raiding, Fun, PVP, Loot, Camaraderie, Wine, Women/Men, Music, Altaholism, Crafting.
> Fun, Women, Music, Beer (I don't do Wine), Raiding, Camaraderie, Loot, Altaholism, Crafting.

Please provide a perl script that will sort a CSV file by first column, then second, and then insert into a mysql database.
> Write your own! My library in DW handles all of that for me, when I need it.

What is your favorite instance? What is your favorite boss fight?
> Favorite is Utgarde Pinnacle. There's always the chance to get that Blue Proto-Drake (even if it's less than a percent of a chance). Favorite boss fight... meh, I would probably say Ony at the moment... but it's new and fresh to me.

Are you easily offended? Is your hot button race, religion, sex, or politics?
> Not a chance.

Are you aware the [HDL] is largely a collection of angry and cynical players and under-geared toons?
> See, I knew I would fit in.

Really? Why do you still want to join [HDL]
> To have fun.

Dogs are cool. Horses have their uses, somewhere... and putting Dogs and Horses in Jurassic Park as a snack, I'm guessing, for the Dinos... that's entertainment.

I'm all ears. If I can get better, I want to. I can be pretty tough on myself and I work to know my role.

Could be that you've gotten an invite already, if so SOMEONE IS SLACKING OFF!!!!

In the event you haven't received an invite yet, just ping a guild member in game and they will direct you to an officer.  Or bypass the middle man and contact one of the following:

Tenris, Estrin, Vitandus, Tessekai.
