Title: Application
Post by: Jarelynn on Fri, 2010-04-16 : 15:19
General Info

Character name(s), class(s), build(s), and level(s)
Jarelynn, hunter, MM and BM, 80
Joselynn, warlock, Affliction and Demonology, 77

no one else above 25, though I have 4-5 below that.

Player name (We operate on a first name basis in HDL)
Coleen

Player age - [HDL] guild and Ventrilo chatter is for mature audiences only. If you are not 18+, you will need to be sponsored by a guild member in good standing.
26

Where did you hear about [HDL]?
James is my brother

Why do you want to join [HDL]?
1. I'm not in a guild and I hear guilds are good places for conversation.
2. James is in it. I like hanging out with him.
3. HDL is a cool acronym. Why? I have no clue but I fancy they way it looks.

What is your guild membership history? Why did you leave or want to leave?
No history, no guilds ever.

What do you want from a guild?
Fun, guidance (i.e. do it this way, this gear would be better b/c, have you tried this) since I've played WoW solo or with my husband only for my entire experience there's a lot I don't do/know,  umm cool raid stuffs.

Can you follow kill order?
Definitely, if I know it or someone tells me what it is.

Are you a Casual player, Raiding oriented player, or a PvP oriented player?  If you think you are a combination of any of those, what percentage of time would you spend on each?
Casual player definitely

Raiding Questions

Will you dedicate 5 days a week to raiding?
No

If you answered ""Yes" to the question above, are you aware that [HDL] is not a hard core raiding guild?

Will you dedicate 2 nights a week to raiding?
Most of the time that's probably a yes, but work and some life stuff trumps my WoW addiction 100%.

Are you willing to take/accept criticism to make you a better player?
For sure. I'm usually too shy to ask for it, but as long as it doesn't contain serious insults (omg you suck, how could you be so stupid) I always appreciate criticism!

We do require Omen and Deadly Boss Mods. Do you have these installed?
Omen yes, Deadly Boss mod no - I've never even heard of it. But I'll be looking it up when I get my next chance.

What is your primary and secondary talent build? Which do you prefer?
Jarelynn:  1 - MM, 2 - BM, prefer MM hands down

What is your rotation for your primary and secondary builds?
I'm guessing you mean abilities. (That's right, solo player Coleen doesn't know all the hip lingo lol)
Either one Hunter's mark always goes first

Here's my shot priority, I just go down the list using whichever ones's nearest the beginning and not on cooldown.
MM: Kills shot, Serpent Sting, Chimera Shot, Aimed Shot, Arcane Shot, Steady Shot
BM: Kill shot, Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot, Multi Shot, Steady Shot

Explain your gear choices, including gems and enchants.
Well, since I got to 80 not knowing a whole lot about the relationship of my stats and my job (hunter was just fun yo!), I've been taking advice from James. So far my reasoning behind gear choices, gems, and enchants all extend from a general answer of he told me to. He (and the reading I've done on the hunter forum) gave me a list of stats to prioritize, and I've been doing that. He said to always use agility gems and whatever I need to get my meta requirements so I did.

As for my main pieces of gear, I've been going off the article on this page: http://www.thehuntersmark.net/2010/03/26/gearing-up-your-hunter-tier-9-and-heroic-rewards/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheHuntersMark+%28The+Hunter%27s+Mark%29&utm_content=Google+Reader
Which, surprise, James sent me.

What do you think of Gearscore?
I don't know what it is for sure. But I imagine it's those numbers everyone shouts about in Dalaran. And I think they are just numbers?

PVP Questions

You are headed to run an instance with non-guildies when you spot a flagged gnome. What is the proper course of action: 1) Ignore the gnome and head to the instance, 2) Send a message to the guild of your find. flag immediately, and kill the gnome, leaving the PUG to wait, or 3) neither. If you selected 3, what course of action would you take?
1. I was busy doing something when I saw him and the something isn't over.

A tea bag is 1) a small porous bag containing tea leaves or powdered tea, onto which boiling water is poured in order to make a drink of tea, or 2) a verb.
1 - yum

Do you prefer Battlegrounds, Arenas, or World PVP? Why?
So, my PvP experiences consist of Wintergrasp... and I like it a lot? I don't like one-on-one PvP situations which always kept me away from Arena (I started my first toon on a PvP server) . I've never tried Battlegrounds so I don't know if I would like it or not, but I definitely like group PvP.

What is your favorite battleground? Why?
Wintergrasp probably doesn't count here, does it?

Rank in important to stack for an Arena battle: Resilience, Attack Power/Spell Power, Critical Strike, Hit Rating.
I have no clue, but if I were going to an Arena battle I'd make sure to find out beforehand.

Social Questions

How would you rate yourself as a World of Warcraft player?
7 out of 10 donuts

Because donuts are the rating system everyone should move to by 2012.

Does .Net suck?
Erm, as in Microsoft .Net? Yes, yes, yes, and yes. And if you had any influence over my place of work at all I would be begging you to convince them we don't need the product I work on in .Net.

That being said, it's not as bad as some languages. But given a choice of deleting my WoW toons or coding in .Net I would... wait bad example. It doesn't suck that bad, oh I think I said that already.

Whiskey or whisky?
I believe the e doesn't matter as long as the liquid winds up in a glass somewhere near me. And there must be pretzels, or cheese, cheese is good too.

Rank in importance to you: Raiding, Fun, PVP, Loot, Camaraderie, Wine, Women/Men, Music, Altaholism, Crafting.
Fun, Music, Camaraderie, Raiding, Altaholism, Crafting, Loot, Wine, PVP,Women/Men

My apologies, it looks like my way too cool coding skills pulled up a question from my past and stuck it on your application. I'm afraid in the interest of International security (and the sanity remaining there-in) that I cannot post an answer to that question.

What is your favorite instance? What is your favorite boss fight?
Favorite boss fight is

Are you easily offended? Is your hot button race, religion, sex, or politics?
Not usually? My hot buttons don't include general discussion of anything, but it the comment is directed solely at me I imagine my hot buttons to be about the same as an average sane person?

Are you aware the [HDL] is largely a collection of angry and cynical players and under-geared toons?
No, no I did not.  O.O
Well the toon part I knew about. :)

Really? Why do you still want to join [HDL]
You say that like you believe someone would lie on the above question just to look better on an application.
I'd say <See above> but then I think I sound too snooty, so I'll copy and paste *just* for you.

Favorite boss fight is

What is the answer?! I don't like suspense.

Also, who do you think would win in a fight, a troll or a rogue?

Also, why a troll priest?

Oh no! Mah answer was eaten by the interwebs!

My favorite boss fight is the last fight in FoS, just because he sounds so ridiculously snobby.

My favorite instance is probably Halls of Reflection, as long as I'm not PuGing it. (Or I am and I know the tank lol)

Something else to start dragging you to! If you like group PvP - you will most likely enjoy Battlegrounds.

.Net is evil incarnate.

Editted: To fix a format issue on my part. :(

Wow, INTERNATIONAL SECURITY. I guess we can let you off the hook. This time.
