Title: Gaming hardware
Post by: Goull on Wed, 2011-06-08 : 00:57
I think my mouse is on its last leg so I was hoping to get a few recommendations for a replacement.  I feel like my current mouse didn't last as long as it ought to have and I was never super happy with it.  At least 2 extra buttons and the middle mouse button/wheel are a must.

Thanks for your help!

I use a fairly simple mouse - meets your minimum specs, and is fairly cheap - the good ol' Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0.  Link (http://reviews.cnet.com/mice/microsoft-intellimouse-explorer-3/4505-3148_7-32036698.html)

Not your top of the line gaming mouse, but it does fine for what I need it for.

I highly recommend the Logitech g500.  Tons of programmable buttons, nice size, customizable weight.  They also have a cordless version if that's what you prefer, but I'm not sure of that model number.

I use the Logitech MX 518 (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=logitech+mx518&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=9695734910360916225&sa=X&ei=c13vTfzNLMragQfa3MmVDw&ved=0CC4Q8wIwAA).

It is corded. It fits nicely in my hand. Two buttons at the thumb, mouse wheel is also a button. And while I'm not that fancy, you can have three different speed settings.

It took a little while to get used to it, but after doing so, I love my Razer Naga (http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169418900/categoryId.35208800). It's really nice to have the option of 14 more keybinds at your thumb.
