TL;DR - exploit in SMF code allowed someone to do bad things.

Need to fix the theme so we aren't bland.
Need to really start looking at a custom portal and using PHPBB3 as the backend.

Really need a drink. Been fixing web sites all evening.

SMF 2 does have some nice features, like the WSIWYG editor when you post. However, this exploit is really pushing me to think of PHPBB3, so please check out the test site:

I'm not sure if it's modules and controls which haven't been installed or enabled on PHPBB3 but it definitely lacks (as noted above) features that SMF2 is supporting. PHPBB3 looks very "bare-bones" in comparison. :\

That's because he has a content portal installed on the SMF site, and none on the phpBB site.

Is there still a desire/plan to customize the HDL Site/Forums? If so, what all do we need to get it in motion?

Vitandus

Kinda died when I migrated to the new SMF version. I'd still be up for phpBB and a custom front end. I have had little time (or will, lately) to get it started.

We may need to move to a new portal or system:

As mentioned earlier this site - tinyportal.net - will be closed later today/tomorrow and all support will have to happen on the SMF modsite in the future.

Several of the TP team members have decided to still maintain a site for TP users specifically, this site is located at http://www.tinyportal.co.uk and there have been transferred many of the topics from this site. No members were transferred, meaning you have to register new on this site again.

This was done to make a clean break between both sites, but not loose the many support and help topics already made during the years this site have been up.

Its with sadness I do this, but also from a necessity to move on.

I've switched to SimplePortal on the Synthesis site after I couldn't get access to the updated TinyPortal without being a development level member or some shit.  I really like SP, the only thing it's missing atm is a WYSIWYG editor for articles and blocks.  But with TP shutting down official operation, it wouldn't surprise me if SP implemented it to pick up the slack.
