QuoteA few weeks ago I announced that the target release date for Cataclysm was November 2. Well, according to an update I just got, the release has been postponed and Blizzard will try to release the game in early December. (Basically, either December 7 or December 14)

I guess my question is.....

Is it really a delay if they never officially announced a release date?

Do you know what "nemesis" means?
A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent;
personified in this case by a horrible cunt... me.

That's a fair question. The guy who made the post said he was the one that originally leaked the release date, so that too was unofficial.

Christina and I were talking about it last night. They're still pushing new features on the PTR so it's obvious the software isn't complete. Factoring in the time it will take to produce the physical software, the original 'leaked' release date seems unlikely.

Unlike some software makers (I'm looking you, EA Games), Blizzard has a history of pushing software back until it's truly ready to go instead of relying on a ton of patches to fix things later down the line. They test their stuff and make sure their ducks are in a row.

Sidenote: I really hate the people at EA games. They're so anal about hitting their "one expansion every 6 months" deadline with Sims 3 that they've pretty much destroyed the game. The original game and all expansions have been so bug ridden that entire neighborhoods (hundreds, thousands of hours of work) are getting corrupted and lost permanently. I adore that game and it's so much fun. It's just so risky to put heavy investment in that it becomes stressful.

Well, yeah, but I promised I'd keep that between us.
