So I've been reading that on trash packs of 3 or more that it's more beneficial to switch to seal of command from seal of vengeance where the trash dies relatively quickly.  I'm all about the TPS right now where I'm running with over geared DPS most of the time in my random heroics I'm tanking.  I might try it without the SoComm glyph first to see if I have any mana issues.

Have any of the other pally tanks in the guild tried this?  Rick?  Paul? or anyone else?

Seal of Command has a cleave affect, which will help with the trash. Threat should be fine, as it's not a stacking effect.

One of your main attacks, Hammer of the Righteous is the only other ability outside of your main attack that applies Seal of Vengeance.  I've seen some prot pallys use seal of command, and they seem to do fine.  I think SoC proc's off of Hammer and Shield...though I have not tested it.  You should do some homework to find out.

SoCom won't proc off of Hammer of the Righteous.

Your melee swings, Judgement, and Shield of Righteousness will proc it, however.

It's greatest effect is seen on high hp groups, like Emalon's adds, or Ulduar trash, where the steady threat from the cleaving proc will assist your Hammer of the Righteous. It's also good for front-loading threat onto packs, which pallies are known for.

Heroic trash usually won't last long enough to see the benefits of it. Worry about getting Avenger's Shield > Hammer of the Righteous on the entire pack before worrying about how much bonus group threat your SoCom gets you.

Consecrate will usually serve you better with very large packs of 6 or more.

I've personally never had issues with trash threat; it's nothing a taunt, Hammer of Justice, or Shield of Righteousness usually can't take care of. I care more about bosses, where people unload their cooldowns, so I just stick with glyphed Seal of Vengeance for all of my tanking.

I will say that it does up the dps considerably on trash.  I was pulling 3500+ dps in my gear (which is only avg ilvl 204) on some larger trash packs in Drak'tharon keep where you get up the stairs after the raptor boss.  I could see it's uses later on for just speeding up heroic runs when you outgear them.

I use seal of command when tanking trash in most raids now.  I enjoy the fact that it turns all my single target attacks into multiple target attacks so that almost everything that I do builds threats on the pack.

I've heard some people say they've seen a boost in dps at the raid lvl when fighting trash.  I haven't seen that myself, but I have noticed it in heroics were i can often push 3k+ on packs trash.
