Where did you hear about [HDL]?
I heard about [HDL] from doing Google searches for Zul'jin guilds.

Why do you want to join [HDL]?
I was researching guilds on Zul'jin after a former guildmate moved to Zul'jin (Lightbringer is a poor server for the Horde and we've been looking for a good Horde server).  I read about various different guilds and their progression on various websites and forums.  [HDL] seems to be along the lines of the kind of guild that I am looking for: a relaxed raiding guild without all of the leetist drama that comes along in many guilds.

What is your guild membership history? Why did you leave or want to leave?
My WotLK guild membership has been minimal; during BC I was on a PvP server and belonged to one guild during my raiding time there; it fell apart towards the end of BC and I got tired of PvP realms, so I moved to Lightbringer where friends IRL played.  I was a member of a casual raiding guild for a few months before they too fell apart (I held on to the bitter end, hoping for a revival... ah, nostalgia for the good old days..).

I want to leave my current server (Lightbringer) now because (a) I am no longer in a guild and (2) I'm looking to find a strong guild to be a part of – from running heroics to helping lowbie members/alts.

What do you want from a guild?
I'd like to find a fun, social atmosphere where we can all work to improve everyone's performances and thus improve the guild as a whole.  I want to get away from the leetist arrogant drama and be part of a friendly guild.

Can you follow kill order?
Absolutely.  I've never had problems following kill orders nor adjusting to a change in order should the need arise (pulling adds, etc has made previous groups need to quickly change the kill order).  You say what to kill and I will pewpew my undead heart out.  :-)

Are you a Casual player, Raiding oriented player, or a PvP oriented player?  If you think you are a combination of any of those, what percentage of time would you spend on each?
I think I am a casual-raiding player.  I like to run raids and progress through end-game content, while also keeping it casual in order to maintain the fun aspect of the game.  I was hard-core raiding during BC and got very burned out; I am trying to avoid that situation again.

Raiding Questions

Will you dedicate 5 days a week to raiding?

If the guild wants to raid 5 days a week, I would do my best to be there all 5 nights (things do come up that cannot be avoided)/

If you answered ""Yes" to the question above, are you aware that [HDL] is not a hard core raiding guild?
Wait... what??!!  hehe ... this is exactly why I want to join [HDL].

Will you dedicate 2 nights a week to raiding?
Of course.  I'm on the west coast, which makes dedicating weeknights to raiding on an east coast schedule very easy for me.

Are you willing to take/accept criticism to make you a better player?
Yep; I think every player should be able to take criticism as long as it is intended to help improve their playing.  I don't like when people insult other players; criticism should include tips for improving performance.  I am always looking for ways to make my play style better.

We do require Omen and Deadly Boss Mods. Do you have these installed?
I've had them installed since BC.

What is your primary and secondary talent build? Which do you prefer?
My primary build is now destruction (raiding) and my secondary is demonology (questing).  I used to be affliction for raids, but have made the switch to destruction to change up the spell rotation.  I prefer destro for the large damage bursts; demonology is fun for solo play, but not as much for group play.

What is your rotation for your primary and secondary builds?
Destro - If I am the only warlock in the raid, I start with Curse of Elements or, if there is another lock, I use Curse of Doom.  Immolation, Incinerate, and Conflagrate make up my primary spell rotation, which Chaos Bolt jumping in when it isn't on cooldowm.  If needed, I also use Soulshatter and Life Tap.  Imp is the minion of choice.

Demon – Again, I start with Curse of Elements or Doom.  After I get my other DoTs up, I spam incinerate while immolation ticks away.  I have my imp out for the fire damage bonus as well.  If there are adds getting out of control, I will bring out the Felguard (constantly reminding him that I do dare summon him!) to help control the adds.

Explain your gear choices, including gems and enchants.
I have the full set from emblem of triumph as well as the majority of the gear availbe from those emblems.  I do have some drops (ie. weapon from H PoS) and PvP gear (which I am anxious to replace).  I got the gems and enchants according to information I found on the website Warlocks Den.

What do you think of Gearscore?
Oh I could write a book about how I feel about gearscore!  I think that it is a useful tool, but there is far too much emphasis placed on a player's gearscore.  Gearscore does not equal play skill.  Attunements used to be an excellent way to measure a player's skill and it helped to weed out the bad players; without attunements in WotLK, gearscore has taken its place.  I think that gearscore has become more of a detriment than anything as WotLK has progressed.

PVP Questions

You are headed to run an instance with non-guildies when you spot a flagged gnome. What is the proper course of action: 1) Ignore the gnome and head to the instance, 2) Send a message to the guild of your find. flag immediately, and kill the gnome, leaving the PUG to wait, or 3) neither. If you selected 3, what course of action would you take?
Wow... the commitment to the run/guild does come first, but the chance to rid the world (of Warcraft) of another filthy gnome is appealing!  I would announce the location of the flagged filthy gnome in General Chat and continue to the instance, hoping that a loyal Horde member in the zone would take care of the gnome.  :-)

A tea bag is 1) a small porous bag containing tea leaves or powdered tea, onto which boiling water is poured in order to make a drink of tea, or 2) a verb.
Both.  One is pleasant, the other is not.

Do you prefer Battlegrounds, Arenas, or World PVP? Why?
Battlegrounds above all.  I've not done any area pvp, so I cannot comment on that.  World PvP annoys the hell out of me (especially Wintergrasp – we never have control on Lightbringer).  Battlegrounds are usually evenly balanced, which can allow for more of an even chance/fight (though premades destroy that).

What is your favorite battleground? Why?
Arathi Basin is probably my favorite.  I like the concept behind the battleground and the play style involved (capturing and holding resources).

Rank in important to stack for an Arena battle: Resilience, Attack Power/Spell Power, Critical Strike, Hit Rating.
I would focus on resilience, hit raiting, critical strike, SP.  I hate PvP...

Social Questions

How would you rate yourself as a World of Warcraft player?

I would say that I am an above average player.  I do not claim to be an expert on WoW or my class, but I know enough to not be a complete idiot.

Does .Net suck?
It is a Microsoft program... of course!

Whiskey or whisky?
Beer?

Rank in importance to you: Raiding, Fun, PVP, Loot, Camaraderie, Wine, Women/Men, Music, Altaholism, Crafting.
Fun, camaraderie, raiding, loot, music, altaholism, wine, crafting, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, PVP

Please provide a perl script that will sort a CSV file by first column, then second, and then insert into a mysql database.
I admit that I know nothing about this.

What is your favorite instance? What is your favorite boss fight?
Tempest Keep and Serpentshrine Cavern are a dead tie; Kael'thas in TK is my favorite fight in the entire game.  For WotLK though, I like Gundrak and Old Kingdom (a full clear).

Are you easily offended? Is your hot button race, religion, sex, or politics?
Not usually.  None of those are hot buttons for me, but I may contribute my two cents on different debates.  :-P

Are you aware the [HDL] is largely a collection of angry and cynical players and under-geared toons?
I am angry, bitter, and cynical as well!

Really? Why do you still want to join [HDL]
Everything I've read about the guild sounds great.  This application just confirms my opinion; these are some hilarious questions!  :-)  I am hoping to transfer my warlock to Zul'jin very soon (and may change the name as well).

Tarn

Acree

If you have a toon on Zul'jin at anytime, feel free to shoot any of us a question. :)

Georg

I do have an orc DK alt on Zul'jin named Baelgur.  :-)  Plz send me a whisper anytime.

Thraice

Ryan, hit one of us up for an invite once you get your toon transferred over. I look forward to having you in the Guild!

Georg

The transfer should be completed today.  I will hopefully do a name change as well.  Hoping to get the name Neltharius.  I am really looking forward to joining the guild and helping out in any way I can.  :-)  For the Horde!

One other quick question:  does the guild ever revisit Naxx and/or Eye of Eternity?  I only ask because I want to take down KT and Malygos for the Champ...Frozen Wastes title.  Been in several fail pugs for each boss.  LOL

Skippy

There are occasional nights where we visit old content (AQ, MC, Kara, Ulduar, etc.)  While I know I haven't been to Maly/Naxx aside from the weekly in some time, there are guild runs to that kind of content from time to time.  Some of us are big on achievements and love doing that kind of stuff :P

Look forward to meeing you, Ryan!
