QuoteMake sure locks do rogue / hunter / mage level dps at 80.
Make sure locks have enough survivability in PvP (since we nerfed a lot of it).
Fix some of those deep Demo talents that really aren't worth the investment.
Make shards more interesting and less of a hassle.
Get the Voidwalker (and possibly Succubus?) back out.
Look at the dps spells that cost shards.
Try and make more of the dots a consistent length, so that Affliction's rotation doesn't require such a big brain.
Get dots to either scale with crit or just crit.

Ghostcrawler's response:

Unfortunately I don't have any new news and I hesitated to post after the posts above that didn't want to see a claim that we're looking into something. (Sorry, man, that's what we do.)

Our goal hasn't changed and the bullets you posted at the top of the thread are still generally valid. We talked about locks just this morning, but I don't have any upcoming announcements yet. I'm sorry I can't always grace every thread with promises of buffs and new abilities, but we try to be careful with the changes we make. The fact that we still manage to break things sometimes suggest that we might not even be careful enough. Fear not, locks. We hear you.

As an aside, I don't think Affliction requires a big brain so much as a player with ADD. I like rotating all those buttons and juggling cooldowns and the GCD.

I have still been sticking with my Affl/Dest build.  It's working well for leveling and is still raidable I believe.  I picked up Shadowburn and that is alot of fun.  It's an excellent spell to throw when you need to step back for a second and bandage or run.  It's hard to gauge survivability because it seems they've made the treck from 70 to 80 stupid easy, and from what I hear it's hard for any class to die easily.

Kel, I may try Affliction for raiding to see how it's changed.  It seems they've nerfed Demonology/Destruction, which I am actually quite happy about.  I am sick of the D/D cookie cutter build that EVERY raiding lock had in BC.

Vitandus

Demonology is still not top-end raid viable; it's useful for Naxx and Obsidian. Entry level raids are still Demonology-friendly (if you recall my taking Nemhain into Kara). Ghostcrawler has stated it's their goal to make Demonology as raid-friendly as Beast Mastery was in BC.

That all said, Affliction is a lot of fun. It's all about juggling cooldowns. It is absolutely evil in large scale PVP where you can DoT to your heart's content. It sucks when leveling with tons of people around since you never pull enough initial threat to make a mob yours. Between Siphon Life and Haunt, you never run out of health, either.
