i am currently running Windows Vista and realized last night I do not have an add-on folder.  How do i fix this?

Reinstall?  Add a properly named folder?

Kaywen

I found a post on the Blizzard boards that may help you, Rick.

fucking school filters.  I'll have to wait until i get home.

Korrtez

problem solved.  the add-on folder is in some fucked up location way off the beaten path.

On Vista, Blizzard has decided to make WoW put some of it's files (WTF and Interface namely) in the C:\Users folder structure.  This is partly because of the UAC to put it very simply.

Thank you for this information.  I was getting a little lost as well.  I also have another question now about deadly boss mod.  I have an older version.  So I want to get the new one,  do I need to get rid of the old files or just download the new version an unzip it where Chuck said to?  Help all you computer people.

I'd suggest Curse Client Sherri.  It's nice and easy to download new addons and to keep your existing ones up to date.  It's available for PC and Mac.  When it's installed it should pickup whatever addons you already have on your system and it will highlight (in bold) which ones are outdated.

The only downside to the free version of this updater is that you can only update one addon at a time (no big deal really).  Just select Deadly Boss Mods, then click update.  You'll see a little box pop up showing that it's downloading, then extracting, and your done.  You can just close the program and load WoW back up and your good to go.  Much easier and faster then downloading it, extracting it to your addons folder, etc...

You can grab it here:

I use the curse client.  I hate it, but it's really the only choice.  Be aware that it DOES NOT do a very good job of picking up your already installed addons the first time you run it, at least as far as I remember.  In the end I was forced to make a list of my addons, delete the addons folder, and download them all through the curse client just to make it happy.

Did anyone else have this trouble?

Worked fine for me, other then a few mods it doesn't know how to handle (ct mods) so it sticks them on the unspecified or unknown tab (forget what its called).

Another vote for Curse Client. It works - I paid the fee for pro version. As much as we play the game, an annual investment is worth the time saved.

Yup, I don't leave it running in the task tray (I'm big on system optimization...so if it doesn't need to be there!!!)...but I do fire it up everyday before launching WoW and let it check for any addon updates  - Some days there will be none, and some days several.

No, I avoid client updaters like the plague.  Not to mention it can sometimes take Curse up to a week or two to approve new mod versions.  I tend to just update my mods manually when they're released and try to stick to as many Ace framework mods as possible.
Play like ya got a pair.
